Intro to Ayurvedic bodywork Abhyanga
Introduction to Ayurvedic bodywork Abhyanga
This class is full, waitinglist only
Expect to learn the basic concepts, theory and history of Ayurveda, but mostly this is a hands-on class where you will witness a full Abhyanga demonstration as well as be led through a guided practice of giving and receiving a treatment. Students will feel confident in giving this type of authentic, time-proven, ancient massage modality. It can be added to your current massage techniques or can be offered exclusively on its own. The medical science of Ayurveda recognizes the value of using warm, herbal-oil during massage because oil is lipophilic, meaning it will dissolve toxic, fat-like substances in the subcutaneous tissues, nourish the skin, remove impurities, stimulate both arterial and lymphatic circulation, and calm the central nervous system….all of this will promote a intense blissful sensation and abolish stress that has been stored in the body. To support flow of prana (vitality) in the body, abhyanga is done in a specific, ancient sequence based on terminal clearance and techniques that work at the chakra level as well as the physical levels.
